The YOY is a special yarn, it stands for Yarn Over Yarn which was named by its creator Clare and Paul of Fibre Arts Shed in New South Wales. This is because this yarn contains 50% of reclaimed mill waste that comes with carding and spinning wool - the fluff that’s get thrown about in the process. Normally this waste would be discarded, adding to the landfill. But Clare and Paul found a way to selvage this waste, mixing it with 50% virgin wool to make this yarn. This is truly a feel good yarn knowing that by using it you are helping with reducing waste and landfill.

yarn weight: Worsted/10 ply
skein weight: approx. 100g
meterage: 200 meters
care: hand wash only in lukewarm water, dry flat
This is a woollen spun yarn, thus it is light and offers brilliant insulation. This yarn softens after blocking. This is NON Superwash yarn.

50% reclaimed mill fibre + 50% “new wool”. We call this range our “Yarn Over” Yarn because we are using some of the fibre over again! Did you know that it is normal to experience a loss of 40% of weight for most yarns from fleece to final product? Some of that weight is lanolin and dirt but a lot of it is just fibre that falls/flies off the machinery during the yarn making process. Normally, this fibre is bagged up and disposed of. But we have reclaimed some of this fibre and blended it with a “new wool” to produce this lofty Aran/10-ply weight woollen spun yarn.
