Natural Undyed Eri Silk Cocoon Cakes 25g
Eri silk cakes are degummed cocoons that have been flattened and are ready to make fiber. These cocoon cakes are sourced from the Meghalaya region in India. As these cakes are from cocoons that had allowed the moth to hatch the fibres are not continuous, meaning the filament is broken where the moth hatched. You will notice some places has short fibres and that’s where the openings are.
Eri Silk is also known for its special properties with its low conductivity and thermal properties making it an all-weather yarn. So, whether you’re looking for a summer yarn or winter yarn Eri Silk can play both characters.
The raw Eri silk is mainly used for spinning yarn. This ready-to-spin fiber can be pre-draft which makes it easy to control the twist and size of your yarn choice while spinning. Cocoon cakes can also be carded and used for soap making, felting, and other craft projects.
Each listing is for 25g which goes a long way.
